✔️ Skinabin (Terbinafine) is used for:

• Fingernail onychomycosis (fungal infection of fingernails)
• Toenail onychomycosis (fungal infection of toenails)
• Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
• Tinea cruris (jock itch)
• Tinea corporis (ringworm on the body)
• Cutaneous candidiasis (skin yeast infections)
• Pityriasis versicolor (skin discolouration due to yeast)

✔️ Words of Advice:

• Take tablets as prescribed, complete the full course.
• Apply cream or spray to clean, dry skin.
• Do not stop early, even if symptoms improve.
• Avoid sharing personal items to prevent spreading infection.
• Improvement is usually seen within days; nails may take months to fully recover.

✔️ Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal issues: diarrhea, upset stomach, abdominal pain
• Skin reactions: rash, itching, redness, urticaria (hives)
• Taste disturbances
• Liver injury, liver failure
• Severe skin reactions
• Low blood cell counts (neutropenia, thrombocytopenia)
• Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
• Other reported: fatigue, malaise, vomiting, joint/muscle pain, hair loss

✔️ Drug Interactions

Terbinafine inhibits CYP450 2D6, affecting drugs such as tricyclic antidepressants, SSRIs, beta-blockers, antiarrhythmics, and some MAO inhibitors. Dose adjustment or monitoring may be required.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Liver safety: Rare cases of liver failure have been reported with oral Terbinafine. Monitor liver function before and during treatment. Discontinue if liver injury is suspected.
• Skin reactions: Rare but serious reactions like Stevens-Johnson Syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis may occur. Stop use if progressive rash develops.
• Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Oral Terbinafine is not recommended. Topical use should be avoided unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
• Avoid contact with eyes; rinse thoroughly if accidental exposure occurs.
• Not recommended in patients with active or chronic liver disease.
